Jr. High (8th/9th grade) have their own needs and different stories to share.  It is important at this age for them to develop a connection with church other than Mass on Sunday, and to find adults, other than parents, who they can trust and share with.  We strive to provide a fun filled atmosphere, while at the same time developing a safe and trusting place to share.  The aim is to get these young people together twice a month on Sundays from 4:00 - 5:30pm.  Background check and completion of Protecting God's Children is required of all.

8th/9th Grade Leader Guide

Teens have some incredible stories to share!  The 8th/9th grade program provides these teens with learning in a module format.  Four modules are offered each year that consist of three meetings each.  After each module there is a good month break for the youth to (on their own) complete an activity which puts the learning into practice.  All materials, resources, support and lesson plans are provided.  Leader guides are needed for Thursday afternoons from 3-4:45pm and Sunday afternoons from 12:15-2:10pm.  Consider sharing stories with teens!  Background check and completion of Protecting God's Children is required of all adults.

Parish Mentor for a 9th Grade Student

Would you walk with a youth in faith for six months? Mentoring involves approx. one meeting a month. Only the first and last meeting is at the parish - all the others are one-on-one between mentor and student. The 45-60 minute meetings focus on particular Sunday liturgies' scripture readings and need to be done BEFORE the indicated Sunday's Mass.  This helps prepare the student for a fuller experience of Mass, and to take from Mass an enriching message for living daily life.   Readings & reflection questions are provided.

Background check and completion of Protecting God's Children is required of all adults.

Two different mission trips in late June and early July, 8-12 grade students and adult leaders work together for a week to repair homes for the poor and elderly. The teams work Monday - Thursday and then enjoy an outing on Friday. Participants must sign up by February because of the long preparation time. Due to the cost involved by the parish, a serious commitment (and deposit) are needed when signing up in February. Preparation meetings will be required.  Background check and completion of Protecting God's Children is required of all adults.
