Have you ever thought about becoming a priest? Or know someone who has?
You'll find a wealth of information at https://detroitpriestlyvocations.com/, including about discerning the vocation of priesthood, how to get started, and much more.
But the Church needs more holy men to hear God's call to the priesthood. Archbishop Vigneron recently called for a Year of Prayer for Priestly Vocations, starting on June 4, 2022 (the Vigil of Pentecost, when ordinations usually take place) and running through May 28, 2023 (Pentecost).
All of us are invited to pray with deep faith and trust that the Lord will call our future priests during this year of prayer. Our future priests need special graces to answer the call in our current world; your role is to pray for the men God is calling to be priests after his own heart. Let us serve them as God calls them to serve us.
Heavenly Father, Lord of the Harvest,
call forth vocations to the priesthood
from our archdiocese and families.
Jesus, Eternal High Priest,
give us men willing to sacrifice and serve.
Make their hearts after your own Sacred Heart.
Holy Spirit,
Everlasting Love between the Father and Son,
strengthen, inspire, and set men
n fire with divine charity.
Grant them the courage to say yes
o their vocation.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, Mother of priests,
comfort and protect your sons
s they discern their call.
With Saint Joseph, may they know
our love and companionship
as they deepen their relationship with Jesus.
Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.
St. Anne, pray for us.
St. John Vianney, patron saint of priests,
pray for us.
Fr. Craig Giera, Director of Priestly Vocations for the Archdiocese of Detroit, invites you to offer the Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary for priestly vocations. Even if you can't do it every day, at least offer it once a week. Typically, these mysteries are prayed on Thursdays; however, you can choose another day.
You can find the Luminous Mysteries and meditations here.
