Assistance through a SVdP Conference is meant to meet emergency needs on a one-time basis. Those who come to us just need a helping hand.

• Like the older, single woman on disability whose sewer was blocked. She couldn’t flush her toilet, drain her tub or sink, and her sump pump was backing up into her basement. Our conference paid to have the roots cleared from her sewer line.
• Or the young mother of three who suffered a closed head injury several years ago. Two of her children are in wheelchairs due to a hereditary muscle disease, and require frequent doctor appointments. When her older chairlift-equipped van needed repairs, our conference was able to procure and pay for them.
• Or the mother of three facing eviction. She had lost employment, separated from her husband (who was not supporting the family), and her car was repossessed. Our conference got her caught up on rent and provided the family with groceries and spiritual support. Shortly after, she found a good job and began the reconciliation process with her husband.
• Or the young couple with four children between the ages of 3 and 8. Mom was pregnant, and had to quit her job due to complications. Dad was struggling to support the family on his income. They had fallen behind on housing costs and risked eviction. Our conference got them back to zero balance. The family was also adopted at Christmas by St. Daniel “angels.”

As an SVdP Conference, we operate primarily within the St. Daniel parish boundaries, which include most of -- but not all of -- Clarkston.  

If a neighbor in need who reaches out to us is outside of our parish boundaries, they are directed to the appropriate SVdP Conference or other help agency.

Often, the help needed is more than just one conference can handle on their own.  We often "twin" (partner) with other conferences to help neighbors in need within their parish boundaries. Likewise, when we need help helping others, we reach out.

• JOIN our parish SVdP Conference. Attend a meeting to see what we're all about! We usually meet on a Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m.; check the parish calendar for dates!
• DONATE funds or gift cards. You can make a secure online donation below, or drop into the SVdP box at church (near the restrooms). Checks should be made payable to St. Daniel St. Vincent de Paul. Gift cards to Kroger, Neiman's, a gas station, etc., may also be dropped in the box at church.
• ENROLL in the Kroger Community Rewards Program and shop for your everyday items. Visit http://www.kroger.com and log into your Kroger account (or create one if you have not already done so). Once logged into your Kroger account, search for "St. Vincent DePaul - St. Daniel Conference" either by name or LX478 and then click "Enroll." Then remember to swipe your registered Kroger rewards card or use the phone number related to your registered Kroger rewards card each time you shop. That's it!!!
• VOLUNTEER at the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store on Dixie Highway in Waterford -- perfect for adults and youth! For every hour of volunteer time, our conference will receive a voucher to help needy families. 
• PRAY for the families that our conference helps, and for all in need. Also, pray for the members of our conference, for continued wisdom and compassion.
